U.S. Supreme Court: Cities Can Seize Homes for Private Economic Development

In a controversial 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that local governments can use their eminent domain powers to transfer private property to new private owners solely for local "economic development" purposes, including expanding the tax base.
