Presentation Marks Firm's 150th Year

NP Dodge Co. officials Wednesday presented the Historic General Dodge House with an original photo of Gen. Grenville M. Dodge

This photo of Gen. Grenville Dodge will be on permanent display in the Historic General Dodge House.

The framed photo dates to 1899 and will be on permanent display at the house, 605 Third St. in Council Bluffs.

In 1855, brothers Nathan and Grenville opened the Dodge Land Office in Council Bluffs. Grenville went on to serve as a general during the Civil War and then as chief construction engineer for the building of Union Pacific Railroad. N.P. stayed in the land business.

Five generations later, NP Dodge is one of the largest full-service real estate companies in Nebraska and Iowa, with seven entities made up of 500 employees and 500 sales associates. The NP Dodge Council Bluffs sales office at 1730 Madison Ave. has 51 agents.

Dan Van Houten, manager of the Bluffs office, made the presentation of the photo as part of the company's 150th anniversary.

"We are proud to donate this portrait as part of our past, present and future commitment to the Dodge House and surrounding communities," he said.
